Aims and scope

Smart Multi-Criteria Analytics and Reasoning Technologies (SMART) is an international, peer-reviewed, open access journal dedicated to advancing the theory and practice of intelligent decision-making. The journal serves as a central platform for high-quality research at the intersection of multi-criteria decision making (MCDM) and artificial intelligence (AI), with a particular emphasis on their integration in complex, data-driven environments.

The journal accepts papers dealing with:
    • integration of MCDM techniques with intelligent technologies,
    • independent progress in the development and application of MCDM methods,
    • research focused exclusively on AI approaches related to inference, decision support, learning or analytical modeling.

By supporting both integrated and narrowly specialized research, SMART encourages wider academic exchange between researchers dealing with theoretical foundations, methodological innovations and practical applications.
Subject areas covered by the journal include (but are not limited to):
    • models and tools from the field of Multi-Criteria Decision Making (MCDM/MADM),
    • Intelligent Decision Support Systems (IDSS),
    • machine learning and AI in the context of decision-making,
    • hybrid models that combine traditional and AI approaches,
    • fuzzy logic, expert systems and inference frameworks,
    • optimization in conditions of multiple criteria and uncertainty,
    • applications in areas such as business, engineering, health, public policies, sustainable development, logistics and others.

All submissions are expected to demonstrate methodological rigor through modeling and simulation, algorithm development, statistical analysis, empirical comparison, or AI-based experimentation.

By supporting both integrated and specialized research, SMART promotes the development of transparent, explainable, and robust decision-making frameworks that address real-world complexity through smart analytics and reasoning technologies.
